TARGET has a significant presence at ONLINE EDUCA BERLIN this year; a pre-conference workshop will focus on questions related to the European Digital Education Agenda. The text below is from the eLIG announcement.
Pre-Conference Workshop: The European Digital Education Agenda
The European digital education market is still in the early stages of development. Emerging Internet service platforms (such as social networks or workplace-embedded cloud services), content distribution models, devices (such as the iPad) and the significantly higher bandwidths of new mobile (4G) and fixed line (Gigabit) networks offer a radically changed environment for digitizing education. ELIG have brought together a top panel of experts to provide thought leadership to the debate.
Josh Bersin, founder of Bersin & Associates, will provide a contextual, strategic over view. Tina Dörffer, from the Bertelsmann Foundation, will summarise their latest research findings on leadership competence development via the web. André Richier and Marco Marsella, both from the European Commision, will then provide a policy persepctive. They will then be joined by Fabrizio Cardinali, CEO eXact learning solutions NA and ELIG Chair, Nikitas Kastis, President of the MENON Network, Manuel Fradinho, Project Leader, EU Project TARGET, and Richard Straub, ELIG Secretary General, to form a panel of experts who will provide input on the topics of improving the European framework conditions for digital education, digital literacy and skills, and the challenges of where policy meets the digital education market. It is intended for this workshop to be a highly participatory event, with opportunities throughout for delegates to raise points and to discuss the issues from their own perspectives.
Elmar Husmann, Public Policy Adviser to ELIG, will lead the workshop which is aimed at educational and learning professionals interested in the impact of European policy on the digital education market. It targets senior executives, business development and strategy managers as well as governmental relations experts - from the learning industry as well as from educational institutions. As a result of attending the workshop delegates can expect to gain a deeper insight into issues embedded within the European Digital Education Agenda and how both institutions and learning industry representatives might more effectively communicate and shape that agenda.
