Abstract: This deliverable describes the implementation of the social tools and services in the TARGET platform. Social tools and services have two high-level goals in the TARGET platform, namely support the learning process of a community of learners and support community nurturing.
In this deliverable we adopt a distinction between tools and services: tools are accessible to the users while services operate on the data generated by the users. Tools are for example chat and blogs, while services are social network analysis and content analysis, useful for "super users" such as mentors or community facilitators.
Based on a review of the state of the art for social tools and services to support learning, we formulate a first group of requirements. A second group or requirements is distilled from the community nurturing approach explained in D5.1.
Social tools in TARGET are implemented in the TARGET Manager (WP3), the Lounge and the Knowledge Ecosystem Navigator (WP7). This social functionality has been developed based on the requirements we present in this deliverable. We analyze therefore how each component has implemented what requested by these requirements.
Social services are implemented in WP5 and we describe how they satisfy the requirements and how they have been implemented. These services support the functionality of monitoring the state of health of the network, as well as possible factors positively related to the learning process
