Project Strategy

The strategy for TARGET has been devised to take into account a number of strategic issues:

· an agile development approach that is user-centric from the inception to the termination of the project

· a phased deployment of TARGET to allow incremental releases and ensure user feedback into the development cycle

· a scheduling of deliverables with a first completion date followed by cyclical updates as work progresses further

· a composition of the work plan that integrates activities that are logically related

· a project schedule that reflects the agile approach principles, as opposed to a waterfall approach

· a combination of work practices that include both a collaborative work environment, developer teams, and peer reviewing.

The TARGET workplan is composed of 10 independent work packages, which are grouped together into 6 different blocks:

· Analysis : this block corresponds to the analysis and design of the TARGET platform. The foundational work in WP1 results from the requirements engineering, user scenarios definition and conceptual framework development. The analysis of these collated data builds the necessary models and processes (WP2, WP3 and WP4) that drive the implementation.

· Implementation : the category covers the main work packages involved in the implementation, namely WP3, WP4, WP6, and WP7. All these work packages include the design in addition to the implementation.

· Evaluation : the final block covers the activities related to evaluation of TARGET within three types of settings: highly controlled environment (laboratory experiments with experimental setup), semi-controlled environment (designed experiments in selected organizations, namely universities, enterprises and living labs) and informal evaluation based on European deployment of TARGET platform.

· Project Management : this corresponds to WP10.

· Vision : this block defines the vision that drives all RTD activities, and corresponds to WP1.

· Innovation : this block corresponds to all innovation activities involving networking with external projects and standardization initiatives (WP9), dissemination (WP9) and training activities (WP8).
